Get ready to unfurl the Red, White and Blue for an extra special Independence Day on Nantucket for America's 250th birthday. On Saturday, July 4, the Town of Nantucket will host patriotic activities across Main Street, Children’s Beach, and Jetties Beach. Nantucket's Fourth of July celebration is one of the island's most beloved summer traditions, but be sure to book your rental and ferry reservations early because the weekend is a very popular weekend for visitors.

Nantucket Fire Department vs. Boynton Lane Reserves Water Competition
This annual tradition is one of the most anticipated events of the day. Spectators should expect to get wet if standing near the designated spray zone. The two fire companies compete to fill large drums with water while the crowd cheers them on.

The day concludes with Nantucket's annual fireworks display launched from a barge just offshore of Jetties Beach.
The show typically lasts 25 to 27 minutes, and patriotic music is simulcast on 97.7 FM WACK.
Getting to the Fireworks
Starting at 6:00 p.m., NRTA Wave buses run from Broad Street near the Whaling Museum to Jetties Beach approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. Return service continues until approximately 10:30 p.m. after the fireworks conclude.
